Strategic Defence Review & the Emerging Threats

That oil deal between Iran and Afghanistan is indeed contra-dictionary to how the USA reacts between the same with Iran and Pakistan. But will Iran now fuel the US/NATO forces that spy on them?

The reason for western companies not to bid now is because Europe and USA is bankrupt. They hardly survive in their own markets so investing heavily is taking risk. And Afghanistan is a big risk. Just ask those that wanted to take it.

Also - while US-Afghanistan makes oil deals with Iran - any oil/gas agreements between Pakistan-Iran are forced to stop, ask to roll-back and comes with, severe threats :(

I think in context of strategy for Pakistani defense , first step pakistanis have do is to get away from unnecessary hate and bias and look at issues without exaggerating their impact .If someone reads down this thread , it is proliferated with angry rants. This might help taliban and thier extremist supporters (that too only slightly ) but it will hardly help Pakistan or Pakistani defence.

The reason I am responding back is my intent for earlier post about China-Afghanistan oil deal is simply that even Afghan leadership is getting smart enough to not put all their eggs in one basket and present themselves to Chinese leadership as Afghans rather than American stoogs ...

Some how most pakistani leaders failed to do so . They are either in love of Taliban and hate of America or in Love of America ignoring what it will mean for state of Pakistan or love with China not looking at who are really Chinese allies.

Take Oil pipeline with Iran for example. America publicly opposed it so this can not be called as any conspiracy. They lobbied in Pakistan against this pipeline at all level ...and why they were able to do that was because both civilian and military institution rely on american Aid...When state of Pakistan can not ensure all school going age children get enrolled in schools first and foremost and let close to million extremly poor kids ending up in zakat funded madrassas where we all know what they will be turned into , it means Pakistan will be dependent on american aid for very very long time.

It is in Interest of US to not have iran easy revenue from exports. Now how did they prevented it for India is by by offering Nuclear power much cheaper than oil import and no risk for India of Pakistan blocking pipeline ...how did they tried to prevent it for Pakistan...aid of few hundred million. That should tell a Pakistani with open mind and eyes where we stand in league of Nations and what our true capabilities are.

Also the perception that America threatened Pakistan for oil pipeline is completely untrue. They simply reminded Pakistani leaders of fact which Pakistani leadership should already know. That Iran can be placed on UN mandated export sanction and only reason it is not is because Korea and Japan need its oils and oil price hike will hurt european economy.

Iran is a totalarian regime where any dissent from state policies does not go unpunished ...So they can outlive any sanction...Pakistan is much open society and

not any kind of oil exporter ...Pakistan economy can crumble in days and weeks if Pakistan try to defy UN manadated sanctions.

Also any one who thinks that after this oil pipeline , all Pakistan energy issues will be solved , really lives in fools paradise ...Just 3 months ago Iran closed Pak Iran border and stopped all imports/exports for 2 months and 11 days in response to Shia pilgrim killings in Quetta...Pakistani administration had to beg to get it opened.

Point is Pakistanis have to be very careful in showing their opinion in international politics especially when our national capabilities are at level when we can not harness energy out of naturally flowing water without China or west help.

Pakistan also need to diversify energy imports not only from Iran but India and Afghanistan/Tukmanistan, China and as well as from Oman .

Pakistan desires to accelerate work on gas pipeline: FO

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has said that there is a drive to accelerate work on Pak-Iran gas pipeline and complete it as soon as possible.

In his weekly briefing Foreign Office Spokesman Abdul Basit said Thursday that in connection to agreements with Iran that there is no change in Pakistan’s desire as far as gas pipeline is concerned.

“There is a desire to accelerate work on gas pipeline and we would try to complete it as soon as possible,” the spokesman said.

To a question regarding violation of Iran space by US and the former reaction as well as Pakistan’s policy in this connection, he said that Pakistan believe in peaceful solution of the nuclear issue of Iran.

On Pakistan stance regarding inquiry report pertaining to NATO attack against Salala, he said that Pakistan is assessing the report and would made public its view after completion of analyzing it.

To another question about CBMs talks with India, he said that both sides hopes that progress would take place after proposal in this connection was submitted.

The spokesman said that the government is reviewing the US report about the last month NATO attack on two posts which killed 24 soldiers.

The November 26 NATO strike in Mohmand tribal region, bordering Afghanistan, has caused a severe blow to the Pakistan-U.S. relations.

Abdul Basit said that a detailed reaction will be issued on the Pentagon report after going through the full document, but he added the report seems not to be based on facts.

The Foreign Ministry statement comes a day after the military reportedly rejected the report as bias.

A U.S. military investigation has concluded that it took about 90 minutes for NATO officers to notify a senior commander about Pakistan’s calls that its outposts were under attack, underscoring a lack of timely senior-level “override” measures to avoid deadly cross-border errors like last month’s air strikes that killed 24 Pakistani soldiers.

But by then, military communications between the two sides had sorted out a chain of errors and the shooting had already stopped.

The delays — by two different officers — raise questions about whether a faster response could have spared the lives of Pakistani soldiers.

An unclassified version of the report, released on Monday by the military’s Central Command on its website, also revealed for the first time that an American AC-130 gunship flew two miles into Pakistani territory.

The United States and Pakistan disagree about the sequence of events in the cross-border attack.

Talking about the Pakistan-U.S. relations, the Foreign Office spokesman Abdul Basit said that Pakistan’s relations with the U.S. saw several ups and downs during the current year, adding that Islamabad wanted relations with the U.S. based on mutual respect.

He said that national security and development are two aspects of its foreign policy and the country gives great importance to relations with China and is proud of it. Basit said that the Pakistan was also trying to improve ties with Russia and had better relations with Iran and Turkey.

The spokesman said that Pakistan also gave great importance to relations with Muslim countries.

He added that the country was also working to strengthen relations with African countries.

Basit said that thousands of Pakistanis were playing great role in the development of Afghanistan.

The truth and the images... How we can be wrong. Anyone knows what happens to the Khadaffi stadium in Pakistan? Anyway, there are stories about everything and even saudia which I have to take with a truck load of salt (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7tVQ5NNBFhc&feature=player_embedded). But this one about Khadaffi could be the truth. What does it mean when he was shouting against Israel? Fabricated? And was this the reason that he had to get the bullet just like Sadam (which was portrayed as ex cia). One way or the other it does show the complexity of emerging threats if you have no clue who is who.

Gadhafi's daughter may seek asylum in Israel, report says

Aisha Gadhafi, daughter of late Libyan leader, reportedly tells European friends that only Israel would ensure her safety She fears her current Algerian hosts may bow to Libyan pressure to have her extradited Gadhafi may legally qualify to enter Israel and even receive citizenship under Law of Return.

Israel may soon take in a highly unexpected immigrant. Aisha Gadhafi, the daughter of Libyan leader Moammar Gadhafi, who was killed in October after a nine-month uprising against his regime, may seek political asylum in Israel if she is allowed to enter, the Walla Israeli news website reported on Wednesday. It was quoting the French intelligence website Intelligence Online.

Aisha Gadhafi fled Libya during the violent uprising against her father, and went to Algeria with her mother, two other siblings and other relatives.

The report said she recently told friends in Europe with whom her family had close personal and business ties that she may ask the Israeli government for political asylum because of concerns that her Algerian hosts could buckle under pressure from Libya's new rulers and extradite her to stand trial in her home country.

Gadhafi may legally qualify for immigration to, and even receive citizenship, in the Jewish state under Israel's Law of Return, which stipulates that anyone with at least one Jewish parent or grandparent can receive Israeli citizenship. There have been long-standing rumors that the Gadhafi family has Jewish roots.

In August, a woman living in Netanya claimed to be a distant cousin of Moammar Gadhafi. Gita Boaron, 75, said, "I saw him on a few occasions when we were growing up ... We played together when he visited our home with his aunt Didi. I saw him before my family moved to Israel. He was 7 years old, and I was 13." Boaron also insisted that the late Libyan leader was Jewish, saying his mother was a Jew who had converted to Islam.

Aisha's European friends, meanwhile, reportedly advised her not to request asylum in Israel, warning her it would likely object to taking in the daughter of a former Arab dictator.

Gadhafi, however, has already been in contact with at least one Israeli -- her lawyer. A former prosecutor with the Justice Ministry and at the U.N.'s International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia, Nick Kaufman was recently hired by Gadhafi and her brother Saadi to represent them at the International Criminal Court at The Hague.

To date, no charges have been filed against Aisha Gadhafi, and most of Kaufman's work has focused on a petition filed on Gadhafi's behalf to the International Criminal Court demanding an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death of her father and brother, Mutassim.

I wouldn't go as far as saying the Saud family are Jews. That is not for me or anyone else to say. Only they & Allah (SWT) knows the truth. However what i would say is that in my mind they are most definately collaborators with the Zionists and this will very soon become apparent. I realise many members disagree with me but i have just stated an honest opinion. The house of Saud in my eyes have played there cards wrong and will pay the price for it very soon.

With regards to Gadaffi it was obvious that he had to be shot because that is the ultimate price people have to pay for speaking out the truth. E.g President Kennedy, Saddam etc... Saddam and Gaddafi are prime examples of people who where used and abused to follow the Zionist agenda in return for Power which they abused. When they came to their senses and spoke out against it they where killed. See videos below with regards to Gaddafi speaking out --->

(Pay particular attention to what he says from 7:10 to 7:30)

What does Jews , house of Saud , Qaddafi or Saddam has to do with strategy for defense of Pakistan which lies in Education , democracy , Peace and Economy development ...In terms of who is real enemy of Pakistan , it is religious extremists who opposed Pakistan , did insurgency against Pakistan , did open treason from state , killed our own citizens and tried to divide Pakistan based on religion and ethnicity. We do not need any more enemies as we as still not done sending enemy #1 to hell.

What they did to Pakistan is far heinous than conspiracies of both Saddam and Qaddafi to install stoogie government in Pakistan (Some of Pakdef members who saw Pakistan in 70s and 80s fully knows about Saddam and Qaddafis malicious designs against Pakistan vs generation which know Pakistan from facebook and twitter or via Hizb-e-tahrir websites and AlQaeda youtube videos ) ...Saddam's agent who tried to smuggle arms in Pakistan to attack Parliament where all well Punished and ISI send some of Qaddafi agents to hell as they were trying to set up Qaddafism in Pakistan in Name of Pakistan-Libya Brotherhood association....Both got what they truly deserved...

Any one who want to do Jihad against House of Saud, Israel or against post Saddam/Gaddafi government, can look it up on Google map and see where these countries are can go and have themselves killed but just leave Pakistanis in peace ..no pakistani cares about them anyway ..Pakistan is not a state for their Fisad missions.

Only way of doing Jihad in Pakistan is by obeying Constitution of Pakistan and upholding laws of Pakistan which clearly disallows any private militia.

First of all a happy new year to all. May I suggest a separate thread to discuss the religious credentials of different Arab leaders. Lets keep the thread focus on strategic duscussions vis a vis to Pakistan.
